Spaceship is a European project coordinated by ESA and initiated with Spaceship EAC in Germany. It was subsequently set up in the United Kingdom and France.

Spaceship FR is being led by CNES, which with ESA is supplying funding for staff and interns and providing input from its experts. It is also receiving technical support from the MEDES space medicine and physiology institute in Toulouse.

The aim of Spaceship FR is to establish the international initiative in France, and it has already spawned a network of research laboratories, engineering schools and universities around CNES.
